Developed as a pre-war racing airplane, the small and powerful Nieuport 11 was pressed into service to combat the deadly Fokker Eindecker in the skies over Europe. The small size and excellent flying qualities of the little Nieuport soon earned it the nick name "Babe" by the pilots that flew it. Soon these Babies were appearing over every hot spot on the front lines, often painted in the flamboyant colors of their pilots choice. Throughout late 1915 to mid 1916 the little Nieuport, designed for racing, held its own as an air superiority fighter against the German air service.
Balsa USA has packed the same excellent flight characteristics of the original Nieuport 11 into an easy to build 1/4 scale model that can be flown with either a gasoline / glow engine or by ELECTRIC POWER
